Abstract:Constructedwetlandtreatmentofwastewaterisconductedbymixedsubstratabedoffuelashpluslimestoneanditseffectiscomparedwithsimplesubstratumbedoflimestone.Theresultsshowthatfuelashisastrongmatrixforabsorbingphosphorus,thatmixedsubstratainconstructedwetlandstuffedwithfuelashandlimestonecanobviouslyenhanceefficiencyforremovingphosphoruswhilefuelashcanbeusedasalkalisupplyfornitrogenremoval,andthatthemainphosphorusremovalmechanisminconstructedwetlandissubstrataadsorption,soincreasingtheamountofmatrixbyraisingpackingdepthcansignificantlyimprovetheremovaleffectofphosphorus.Becausethemainammonianitrogenremovalmechanismisnitrification-denitrification,dissolvedoxygeninconstructedwetlandisthekeyfactortorestrictammonianitrogenremoval,althoughraisingpackingheightofthematrixcanreinforcedenitrification,theoxygensupplycannotbeincreasedtoconsolidatenitrification,thus,ithaslittleeffectonammonianitrogenremoval.
