Abstract: Nitrariatangutorum,ArtemisiaarenariaandEphedraprzewalskiiarethemainspeciesofnaturalvege2tationintheMinqindesertarea,especiallyHaloxylonammodendronisakeysand2fixationspeciesinthisarea.Inthisstudy,apositionedinvestigationonthedynamicvegetationdegenerationinMinqinwascarriedoutduringtheperiodof2002-2006.Theresultsrevealthatthedesertvegetationiscontinuouslydegenerated,andthevegetationcoverageiscloselyrelatedtoprecipitation.Thereisasignificantpositivecorrelationbetweenthesoilmoisturecon2tentandtheshrubberydensity,herbaceousanddominantspeciesvegetationaswellasthetotalvegetationcoverageinlate2May.RainfallduringtheperiodfromMayandJulyisakeyfactoraffectingthedesertvegetationcoverageandtheplantdensityinthestudyarea.Viewingfromtheaspectofplantcommunities,thecoverageofEphedra
przewalskiiwithdeeprootsandofHaloxylonammodendronwithhighplantsiscomparativelystable.Viewingfrom
theaspectoflandforms,thevegetationonmobileandsemi2fixedsanddunesiscomparativelystable,whereasthevegetationonthefixedsanddunesisseriouslydegenerated.Itiseasytoformsand2surfacecrustandpreventrain2watertoinfiltratedownwardifsandbarriersareconstructed,suchconstruction,however,isdisadvantageousforre2ceivingthelimitedrainfall,soitisnotanidealmeasuretoconstructtheclaysand2barriersforfixingsand.Keywords: desertvegetation;rainfall;watercontentinthesoil;correlationanalysis;MinqinOasis.
