Mona wanted to meet her friend, Maria, at New York. But Maria had to go to the City Library to borrow books. Mona thought that libraries were totally boring, but she decided to go and meet Maria anyway.
When Mona got to the library, she couldn’t find Maria anywhere. Mona walked all around the library, but she didn’t see her.
Mona went down into the basement (地下室) looking for her. It was dark down there, and it smelled like noodles. Mona was nervous — especially when she saw a dog in the corner. She wanted to get back upstairs quickly, but the door was locked.
Mona was scared, and she shouted very loudly. Finally someone came to the door. It was the Miss. Molly said, “Don’t worry, let me help you!” Mona was very happy to see Miss Molly. Mona went upstairs and found everyone in the library looking at her.
Maria ran over to Mona and said, “What happened to you? You were making so much noise that everyone in here could hear you.” Mona just laughed and said, “I was just looking for you.”
