<Mingzhu Lake>
Our first sightseeing in Chongming is the Mingzhu Lake. It’s located in the southwest of Chongming Island. It’s the biggest natural lake here. This lake is originally a branch of Yangtze River and was embanked at the beginning of 1970’s. It covers a water area of 2 square kilometers with the depth of 7-8 meters.
Around the lake we can see the forest with more than 50 kinds of trees: normal trees such as: Osmanthus tree, metasequoia tree, cedar tree etc and rare trees such as: red maple and Chinese small apple.
<Xisha Wetland Park>
This park is located in the southwest of Chongming Island. It has an area of 300 hectares, and it’s the only natural wetland with natural tidal phenomena and woodland beach.
Different from Dongtan Wetland Park, one of Xisha Wetland Park’s important living conditions is the continuous tidal phenomena. The average time of the tides rising and falling is 12 hours and 24 minutes. Visitors can walk on the 2 kilometer-long wooden trestle to have an intimate contact with nature. <Chongming Museum>
