Thereareonlytwogroupsofancienthistoriographiesthathavebeenmaintainingvitalityanddevelopingindependently,thewesternclassicalhistoriographyandChina'straditionalhistoriography.Inourcomparison,ononehand,therearetwosimilaritiesbetweenthetwogroups,thehistoricalvalueofseekingfortruth,andtheviewofsocialfunctions.Ontheotherhand,thereisonedifferencethatonlyChinahadasystemicandorganizedofficialhistoriography.Basedonthecomparativestudy,wefindthatthereisacontradictionbetweenthetruthandsocialfunctionofhistoricalrecords,whichpromotethedevelopmentofhistorystudiestoformanindependentsocialsystemofhistoriography.159
