Servo drive systems are nowadays subjected to the moststringentdemands. The Global Drive System from Lenzehas succeeded in ensuring thatthe differing drive unitcom-ponents all complementeach other perfectly. The Lenzeservo motors have an importantrole to play in this system.Tailored to various applications, synchronous and asynchro-nous motors thathave been optimised to satisfy the
various requirements in terms of dynamic response, accu-racy and drive behaviour, are available across a wide torqueand power range.
Dynamic
All Lenze servo motors feature a low momentof inertia anda high overload capacity. Continuous temperature measure-mentusing an integrated thermal sensor delivers an opti-mal control response thatis more or less temperature inde-pendent.
When combined with 9300 range servo inverters or theECS servo system, high speed precision, ideal smooth run-ning characteristics and high angular accelerations can beachieved.
Precise
In combination with the specially designed neodymiumiron boron (NdFeB) high-energy magnets, the new SEpTdesign*)enables a distortion-free, entirely sinusoidal wor-king field to be generated on MCS synchronous servomotors. This ensures both excellentsmooth running cha-racteristics (due to the absence of field distortion) and
maximum power density (as the working field is generatedalmostentirely from the induced energy). This optimisedfield form also eliminates practically all distorting coggingand latching torques.
Long service life
The high quality levels thatLenze demands of the compo-nents in question satisfy the requirements placed on
modern drive systems in terms of operational reliability andservice life. A reinforced insulation system with thermalreserve (enamel-insulated wire to temperature class H, forclass F use) ensures the long operating life of the winding.The fully-encapsulated stator also ensures the winding isthoroughly protected, even in the eventof severe vibration,and allows heatto be dissipated more effectively: the resultis an increase in load capacity and a long trouble-free service life.
Pretensioned and generously dimensioned roller bea-rings with high-temperature resistantgrease guarantee along service life for the bearings as well.

Operational reliability
The IP54 version of the MCS and MCA series provides agood degree of protection from dustand water. If the drives require even more protection, the MCS and MCAmotors are also available in an IP65 version.
CE conformity
All Lenze servo motors naturally meetthe requirements ofthe following EU guidelines:

CE conformity with the electromagnetic compatibilitydirective for a typical drive configuration with inverterThe use of integrated system cables makes iteasy to main-tain electromagnetic compatibility.
UL certification
All Lenze servo motors in the MCS and MCA series are desi-gned for use in the Americas and are supplied UR certified(exception: version with 205V brake).
No compromises where outputspeed is concerned
The large ratio range of Lenze gearboxes, combined withthe small ratio step of 1.12, allows the required outputspeed range to be chosen very precisely. The ability toconnectthe gearboxes directly in the case of the MCS andMCA servo motors produces an extremely compactdriveunitwith a minimal unitvolume. Itgoes withoutsayingthatall Lenze servo motors can also be combined withgearboxes in the conventional manner.
