4.MaterialsandManufacture
4.1Thesteelforbothseamlessandweldedpipeshallbemadebyoneormoreofthefollowingprocesses:open-hearth,electric-furnace,orbasic-oxygen.
4.2Ifsteelsofdifferentgradesaresequentiallystrandcast,identi cationoftheresultanttransitionmaterialisrequired.Thesteelproducershallremovethetransitionmaterialbyanyestablishedprocedurethatpositivelyseparatesthegrades.4.3Theweldseamofelectric-resistanceweldedpipeinGradeBshallbeheattreatedafterweldingtoaminimumof1000°F[540°C]sothatnountemperedmartensiteremains,orotherwiseprocessedinsuchamannerthatnountemperedmartensiteremains.
4.4Whenpipeiscoldexpanded,theamountofexpansionshallnotexceed11 2%ofthespeci edoutsidediameterofthepipe.
