Generally speaking, tourists traveling in China for the first time should visit cities like Beijng, Shanghai and Xi’an.

Beijing is the political and cultural center that offers some tourist attractions: the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace, the Summer Palace and the Beihai Park.

Shanghai is the largest city in China. One or two hours’ train ride away from it are Su Zhou and Hang Zhou, known for their gardens. The two cities are regarded by the Chinese “paradise on earth”.

Xi’an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, was capital intermittently for many Dynasties in Chinese history. The life-size Terra-cotta Soldiers and horses of the Qin Dynasty are praised as “the Eighth Wonder of the World”. Among other interesting sites are the Great Wild Goose Pagoda. The Drum Tower and the Tomb of Huangdi (Yellow Emperor).
