ThequantumgroupSUq(n)thatwewillusehereisageneralisationoftheLiegroupSUq(n).OnerecoverstheLiegroupwhentherealparameterqtendsto1.Tech-nicallywearedealingwithanon-commutativenon-cocommutativequasitriangularHopfalgebra.Itsdualisanoncommutativegeneralisationofthefunctionalgebraonthegroupmanifold.Wecanthusconsiderthequantumgroupasanexampleofnoncommutativegeometry[1,2,3,4].

Itistemptingtoexamine,whethernoncommutativegeometry,whenintroducedintoquantumtheory,regularisesitsshortdistancebehaviour.Theideais,nottobreaksymmetriesbythisregularisingprocedure,butto(quantumgroup-)generalisetheminstead.Onemaythenevenspeculateaboutgravityenteringthepicture.This
