Notes
1. Although CervusCL runs from a DOS prompt, it is not a true DOS application as it uses Windows code within it. It therefore can only be executed on a computer that is running Windows.
2. "cmd" can also be invoked by selecting All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt from the Windows Start Menu. However do not use Run... "command" as this method invokes the original DOS system, not the Windows-enabled version invoked by "cmd".
3. With "cmd" you can use long file names. There is no need to constrain filenames to the standard DOS 8.3 format required by "command", just as long as any filenames
containing spaces are enclosed in double quotes.
4. Command line parameters are not case sensitive, and either / or - can be used to indicate a switch. The name of the project file and switches may be placed in any order after the CervusCL command.

This paper developed the error-tolerant likelihood-based method implemented in Cervus and applied it to analysis of paternity in Rum red deer (Cervus elaphus). The likelihood equations published in this paper are now superseded by those in Kalinowski et al. (2007).
